Understanding Software Engineering

Apparently I do not really understand the meaning of software engineering. In this sense I am just beginning to understand it, for that I deliberately seek credible sources regarding software engineering.
Software engineering is a profession steeped in the ways of software development including the creation, maintenance, management pengembanganan organization and quality management software.
IEEE Computer Society defines software engineering as an approach to the application of a systematic, disciplined and quantifiable for the development, use and maintenance of software, and the study of these approaches, namely the application of software engineering approaches.
Software engineering is the alteration of the software itself in order to develop, maintain, and rebuild the principles reakayasa to produce software that can work more efficiently and effectively for the user.
Criteria that can be used as a reference in the reverse software:
1. can continue to be treated and maintained (maintainability).

2. able to keep up with technology (dependability).

3. can follow the wishes of the user (robust).

4. effective and efficient use of energy and its use.

5. to meet desired needs (usability)
